Diathermy and electrolysis for the treatment of specific skin concerns and conditions
Diathermy and Electrolysis belong to the group of electrotherapies that have been used in medicine and aesthetic practices since the 18 century.
Electrolysis and Diathermy utilise direct and alternating currents of electricity for the treatment of specific skin concerns and conditions.
Electrolysis remains the only method of permanent hair removal as it destroys the hair and makes the follicle infertile for future hair production.
It is an ideal choice for smaller areas of unwanted hair growth such as the face, underarms, breast/areola and the bikini line and also for the stubborn hair untreatable with laser or IPL devices. Grey, white, light coloured or red hairs are suitable for electrolysis. Several treatments may be needed to achieve complete hair removal and the number of sessions required will be discussed during your initial consultation with Dr Gabriel Poboran.
Diathermy technique uses the same current as electrolysis and is designed for the treatment of vascular lesions, dilated capillaries and benign keratotic lesions such as seborrheic keratoses, non-viral warts or keratotic plaques. This method is also successful in treating sebaceous hyperplasia, milia, xanthelasma and skin tags.
