Planning to travel by plane this holiday season? Before you start your journey, prepare yourself and those accompanying you for a safer trip by protecting from the sun and high altitude while getting to your destination.
Our bodies are not accustomed to high altitudes, so to prepare for the flight wisely, avoid coffee and black tea before and during the flight, drink herbal teas like peppermint and chamomile.
The air on the plane is very dry, having the humidity of around 15% !!!, thus our skin and nasal passage can get extremely dehydrated. To help the skin to keep the moisture, consume plenty of water and use the rich nourishing skincare to lock in moisture. Use nasal cream to reduce the dryness of the nose. Ensure your personal ventilation above your seat is not directed straight on you or reduce the flow of dry air.
While UVB light is shielded by the plane window, the UVA light is not. If you feel your ears, arms, neck are hot, you are bombarded with the UVA radiation and it may be harming you.
What should we do? Cover up, close the window blind during the day if possible, apply broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30+.
